Atalanta Rejects Liverpool’s Interest in Lookman

According to recent reports, Atalanta has rebuffed Liverpool’s interest in their star striker Ademola Lookman. The Italian club is unwilling to part with any of their key players during the January transfer window.

Sources indicate that Liverpool made an inquiry about the 27-year-old Nigerian international, but Atalanta promptly declined. Lookman, who was recently named the Best African Player of 2024, has been instrumental in Atalanta’s impressive run of form this season.

The forward has already netted 11 goals and provided 5 assists in just 19 appearances across all competitions. His stellar performances have helped propel Atalanta to the top of the Serie A table, with the team currently on a ten-match winning streak in the league.

Lookman’s contract with Atalanta runs until 2026, and the club seems determined to retain his services. This stance extends to other Atalanta stars as well, with the club also reportedly rejecting interest from Manchester City for Brazilian midfielder Ederson.

The Nigeria international played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen. Despite attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, Lookman chose to remain in Bergamo.

As Atalanta continues to excel both domestically and in Europe, it’s clear they view Lookman as a key component of their success and are not entertaining any offers for him at this time.
