Atalanta’s CEO Shares Insights on Team’s Current Situation and Goals
Luca Percassi, CEO of Atalanta, recently shared his thoughts on the team’s challenges and aspirations. Speaking before the Italian Cup quarter-final match against Bologna, Percassi addressed several key issues facing the club.
Regarding the recent injuries to Scamacca and Scalvini, Percassi expressed deep regret. He confirmed that both players will undergo surgery, sidelining them for an extended period. “We’re losing two valuable players who would have significantly contributed to our team,” Percassi stated. He remained optimistic, adding, “They’ll return stronger than ever, though we anticipate their comeback only next year.”
On the topic of transfers, Percassi mentioned that while they hadn’t initially planned to strengthen their defense, the unfortunate injuries necessitated action. He highlighted the signing of Maldini, describing him as a player who aligns with Atalanta’s philosophy. Percassi emphasized the club’s readiness to seize opportunities that benefit the team during transfer windows.
Discussing the Italian Cup, Percassi confirmed it as a significant objective for Atalanta. He noted the team’s recent history in the competition, stating, “Reaching the final is already a great achievement for Atalanta, though we always aim to win. We’ve made it to the final three times in the last five years but haven’t managed to clinch the title yet.” Percassi emphasized the importance of the cup to the club, indicating their strong desire to succeed in this competition.
