Atalanta’s Stunning 4-0 Victory Over Juventus

Atalanta delivered a humiliating defeat to Juventus in their Serie A clash for third place. Mateo Retegui, Marten de Roon, Davide Zappacosta, and Ademola Lookman each scored as Atalanta cruised to a 4-0 victory in Turin.

The match was crucial as only three points separated the teams beforehand. Juventus was missing several key players due to injuries, while Atalanta also had some absences but saw Daniel Maldini return to the bench. It was a noteworthy game for Koopmeiners and Cuadrado facing their former team, with Cuadrado starting.

Early in the game, Thuram stopped a dangerous counter-attack from Lookman and then went on attack himself, shooting just over the bar. Zappacosta also missed wide from a good position.

Lookman tested Di Gregorio, and then a penalty was awarded when McKennie handled the ball after a free-kick. Retegui converted the penalty, scoring in the bottom corner.

De Roon missed an opportunity after a poor pass, but Atalanta remained in control going into halftime.

Lookman had two incredible chances saved by Di Gregorio, including one deflection off the post and a volley from Zappacosta that was palmed off the line. Ederson then missed the rebound.

Juventus’s second half started poorly when Kelly’s pass was intercepted by De Roon. Lookman’s shot was saved, Retegui’s follow-up was blocked, but De Roon scored on the third attempt.

Lookman could have extended the lead but chose to shoot instead of passing to Retegui.

Atalanta’s dominance continued as they scored their third goal. Kolasinac and Zappacosta combined well, with Zappacosta scoring through Kelly’s legs.

The scoring wasn’t over as a slip by Vlahovic allowed Lookman to go clear and score his goal, helped by a deflection. Many Juventus fans left the stadium at this point.

Juventus tried to score a consolation goal, but Carnesecchi made an excellent save from McKennie’s header.
