Following the confirmation of Cristian Giuntoli`s departure from Juventus, reports from Italy suggest that the former sporting director may not be out of work for long. LaLiga club Atletico Madrid has reportedly shown interest in acquiring his services.
Juventus officially announced that Giuntoli has left his position as sporting director by mutual agreement, ending his two-year tenure with the Bianconeri. The Italian giants are now searching for both a replacement sporting director and a permanent head coach for the upcoming 2025-26 season. In the meantime, the club`s senior management will be led by newly-appointed general manager Damien Comolli and club legend Giorgio Chiellini.
Atletico Madrid`s Interest in Giuntoli
According to reports from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Atletico Madrid has expressed openness to bringing Giuntoli on board. The Spanish club has been without a sporting director since Italian executive Andrea Berta left to join Premier League side Arsenal.
Prior to his stint at Juventus, which began in 2023, Giuntoli had an impressive track record in Italian football. He spent eight years as sporting director of Napoli and six years in the same role with Carpi. He also had a brief spell as technical director at Spezia during the 2008-09 season.
Giuntoli`s extensive experience in Italian football and his success in player recruitment and team building make him an attractive candidate for Atletico Madrid as they look to strengthen their sporting structure.
