Atletico Madrid Forward Correa Could Be Suspended for 12 Matches for Insulting Referee

Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa may receive a lengthy ban for insulting referee Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez in the match against Getafe (1:2) in La Liga matchday 27, reports Marca.

Towards the end of the match, the forward received a red card and then verbally abused the referee, using a series of offensive expressions towards the official and his mother. The words were recorded in the match report. Correa is facing a suspension ranging from 4 to 12 matches.

After the Argentine’s dismissal, Atletico conceded two goals at the end of the match and lost.

Diego Simeone’s team has scored 56 points after 27 rounds and is in third place in the La Liga table. Correa has played 38 matches in all competitions this season, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists.
