Samuel Lino opened the scoring for the home side in the 26th minute, followed by Antoine Griezmann sealing the victory with a goal in added time (90+3 minutes).
With this win, Atletico Madrid climbed to second place in La Liga standings, reducing the gap behind Real Madrid to just one point, although Real Madrid has a game in hand.
Mallorca is currently seventh in the league table.
