Auxerre Nearing Deal for PSV’s Frederik Oppegard
After a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign, Auxerre’s form has dipped in recent weeks. The club is now looking to the transfer market to reinvigorate their season, with a left-back being a top priority.
According to reports, Auxerre are in advanced talks to sign Fredrik Oppegard, a 22-year-old Norwegian defender, from PSV Eindhoven. Oppegard, who joined PSV from Valerenga in 2022, has struggled for regular playing time in the Netherlands, making just six Eredivisie appearances this season.
With Oppegard’s contract set to expire at the end of the current season, Auxerre are hoping to secure his services at a reduced price. The French club sees the young full-back as a potential solution to strengthen their defensive options and help turn around their recent run of seven games without a win in Ligue 1.
If successful, this transfer could prove crucial in Auxerre’s efforts to climb back up the table and potentially challenge for a European spot, as they had been doing earlier in the season.
