According to Sacha Tavolieri, Aymeric Laporte, the former Manchester City defender now 30 years old, might be heading back to European football after his move to Saudi Arabia.
Laporte, a Spanish international, currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia but is reportedly open to a return to Europe. Following in the footsteps of players like Seko Fofana, who recently returned to Europe, Laporte could make a similar move.
Sources indicate that Olympique de Marseille is looking to bolster their defense in the upcoming summer transfer window and has already engaged with Laporte’s representatives about a potential transfer. The central defender is prioritising a move to a club that will compete in the next season’s UEFA Champions League. Marseille, currently in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League, could be an attractive option for Laporte.
While Marseille has not yet contacted Al-Nassr directly, this is expected to happen soon. Laporte’s contract with the Saudi club is set to expire at the end of next season.
