Barcelona Includes Dani Olmo in Squad for Spanish Super Cup Match Against Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona has named midfielder Dani Olmo in their squad for the upcoming Spanish Super Cup semi-final clash against Athletic Bilbao. This decision comes despite recent complications regarding Olmo’s registration for the second half of the 2024/25 season.

On January 4th, it was reported that both La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had denied Barcelona’s request to register Olmo. As a result, the player is currently ineligible to participate in matches for the remainder of the season.

The highly anticipated match between Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8th, with kick-off set for 22:00 Moscow time.

Olmo joined Barcelona from RB Leipzig in August of last year. At that time, the club managed to register the 26-year-old Spanish international only for the first half of the 2024/25 season. Interestingly, Olmo’s contract includes a clause allowing him to leave Barcelona on a free transfer if he is not registered in January.

During the first half of the season, Olmo showcased his talent by scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist in 15 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
