Barcelona Nears Deal for Bayer Leverkusen Star Jonathan Tah
Barcelona is on the verge of signing Bayer Leverkusen’s central defender Jonathan Tah, according to recent reports. The 29-year-old German international has verbally agreed to join the Catalan giants in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Tah previously announced his intention to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season after failing to reach an agreement on a contract extension. While a verbal agreement is in place with Barcelona, the transfer has not been finalized as no official documents have been signed yet.
Other top European clubs, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, have also expressed interest in acquiring Tah’s services. The defender’s potential move to Real Madrid could gain traction if Xabi Alonso, with whom Tah has a good relationship, takes over as the club’s manager in the summer.
Since joining Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Tah has been a cornerstone of the team’s defense, featuring in 398 matches and contributing 17 goals and 13 assists. This season alone, he has played 45 matches, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Transfermarkt currently values Tah at 30 million euros.
As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Jonathan Tah’s next move, with Barcelona seemingly in pole position to secure the talented defender’s signature.
