Barcelona Receives Temporary Approval to Register Olmo and Victor
The Spanish Sports Council (CSD) has provisionally allowed Barcelona to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the remainder of the season, according to Cadena Ser. The players will be eligible to play for the team during the next three months while the CSD reviews Barcelona’s case.
Sources indicate that although Olmo and Victor won’t be available for the January 8th match against Athletic Bilbao, they could potentially participate in the Spanish Super Cup final if Barcelona reaches that stage.
This development comes after La Liga and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) initially denied Barcelona’s request to register the players for the second half of the season. On January 1st, Barcelona submitted a new license application for Olmo and Victor to the RFEF.
Olmo joined Barcelona in August of last year but was only registered for the first half of the 2024/25 season. His contract includes a clause allowing him to leave the club for free if not registered in January.
In the 2024/25 season, the 26-year-old Olmo has scored 6 goals and provided 1 assist in 15 matches across all competitions. The 23-year-old Victor has contributed 2 goals and 1 assist in 17 matches.
This temporary registration provides a short-term solution for Barcelona, but the club awaits the final decision from the CSD regarding the players’ eligibility for the remainder of the season.
