Baroni: Lazio Deserved More in Derby Stalemate
Lazio head coach Marco Baroni believes his team was unlucky not to secure a victory in the 1-1 draw against Roma in the Derby della Capitale. Despite creating numerous chances, Lazio had to settle for a point in the intense city rivalry match.
Baroni expressed his disappointment, stating, “We gave our all and created many scoring opportunities, but we lacked a bit of fortune to secure the win we deserved. Nevertheless, we’ll take the point, knowing the team tried everything. It’s unfortunate.”
The Lazio boss noted that while Roma applied some pressure, they didn’t generate many significant chances. He praised his team’s effort and creativity throughout the match.
Europa League Impact and Home Form Concerns
Baroni acknowledged the added strain of Lazio’s Europa League commitments, having played in Norway just days before the derby. He emphasized the importance of fan support for their upcoming European fixture, saying, “Our supporters are fantastic. I told the players we need to believe on Thursday and draw energy from the crowd. The help from our fans will be crucial.”
Addressing Lazio’s recent struggles at the Stadio Olimpico, where they’ve won just one of their last nine home games, Baroni remained optimistic. “We have a young squad that is developing. We aim to be protagonists throughout the season by playing attractive football. I’m confident we’ll achieve our goals,” he concluded.
