Baroni: Lazio should be proud of draw against Atalanta
Lazio manager Marco Baroni expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in their 1-1 draw against Serie A leaders Atalanta. He believes the Biancocelesti should feel proud rather than regretful about the result.
Lazio took an early lead through Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s goal, set up by Nicolò Rovella. They maintained their advantage for an hour and had several opportunities to extend it. However, Atalanta’s Marco Brescianini came off the bench to equalize late in the game.
Baroni praised his players’ efforts against a strong title contender: “I told the team I’m proud of how they performed against such a formidable opponent. The quality of our play was even more impressive considering the strength of our opposition.”
The coach emphasized the need for continued growth in character and game management. He was pleased with the team’s resilience in difficult moments.
Baroni highlighted tactical adjustments, including Dele-Bashiru’s midfield role and Taty Castellanos playing deeper to link midfield and attack. He also commended Rovella’s consistent performances and encouraged his midfielders to be proactive and take risks.
Despite not securing a win, Baroni views the result positively. Lazio remains fourth in the league, four points ahead of Fiorentina who have two games in hand.
