Baroni: Lazio’s Real Identity Shines in Final 30 Minutes of Dramatic Draw

Lazio manager Marco Baroni acknowledged the team’s slow starts but emphasized their resilience after a thrilling 2-2 comeback against Parma at the Stadio Olimpico. Despite knowing a win would propel them to fifth place, Lazio found themselves trailing 2-0 early in the second half.

The turning point came with Baroni’s triple substitution, sparking life into the team. Pedro netted twice in five minutes, pushing Lazio to search for a winner, though time ultimately ran out.

Baroni Focuses on Positive Aspects

“Conceding early certainly affects morale, and the second goal right after halftime felt like luck was against us,” Baroni told reporters. “However, the team kept trying to play. Our substitutions changed the game’s pace, and I want to build on that final half-hour. That’s who we truly are – playing with tempo, determination, and hunger.”

The coach praised Pedro’s performance, calling him “infinite” after his crucial brace. Despite the disappointment of not securing a win, Baroni highlighted the team’s never-give-up attitude as a key positive.

Lazio’s result sees them level on points with Roma at 60, but dropping to seventh due to head-to-head records. Baroni addressed concerns about Lazio conceding 45% of their Serie A goals this season in the opening 15 minutes of either half, acknowledging it as an area for improvement.

“We’re analyzing this issue, but right now I want to focus on our ability to fight back from 2-0 down. That’s the mentality we need to build upon,” Baroni insisted. “If we had equalized earlier, I believe we would have won the match.”

As Lazio continues their pursuit of a Champions League spot, Baroni’s emphasis on the team’s fighting spirit could prove crucial in the season’s final stretch.
