Bastoni: Inter’s Team Spirit Can Overcome Stronger Champions League Opponents
Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni acknowledges that the other Champions League semifinalists may have more individual talent, but believes Inter’s teamwork gives them a chance against any opponent.
After defeating Bayern Munich to reach the semifinals, Bastoni said the adrenaline was high but he always believed Inter could advance. He credits the team’s willingness to suffer together and play good football as key factors in their success.
“Individually, we may not be as strong as the other semifinalists. But as a team, we can beat any of them if we defend together,” Bastoni stated. “Our strength comes from focusing on ourselves, even when criticized.”
The defender sees similarities between this Inter side and the 2010 treble-winning team in their ability to come together in difficult moments. He praised manager Simone Inzaghi’s passionate approach as contagious and motivating for the players.
Looking ahead to facing Barcelona in the semifinals, Bastoni emphasized the need for total focus and fitness. “We’ve faced top wingers before. We need 100% concentration to cause them problems,” he said.
With Inter still competing for three trophies, Bastoni acknowledged the fatigue but said the team wants to go for everything. He remains confident about their Serie A title chances while respecting Napoli’s challenge.
As Inter aims to return to the Champions League final, Bastoni believes their team spirit gives them a chance against any opponent. While recognizing the individual quality of their rivals, he feels Inter’s collective strength could be the difference maker.
