Bayern Munich Academy Player Explains Lack of Russian Passport
Jamal Kaishvili, a Russian footballer training at Bayern Munich’s academy, recently shared why he doesn’t have a Russian passport.
“Currently, I don’t have a passport from any country – only a German residence permit. That’s why one of my goals this year is to obtain Russian citizenship,” Kaishvili explained.
When asked about the unusual situation of not having a passport at 16, Kaishvili revealed his challenging background: “I don’t have parents. I’ve never seen my mother and don’t even know if she’s alive. My father passed away when I was eight. After his death, his friend brought me to Germany, where I initially lived in an orphanage. It’s only in recent years that I moved to Bayern’s academy. This is why I don’t have citizenship of any country.”
He continued, “There are many bureaucratic issues to resolve. In 2025, my agency and I will work on obtaining a Russian passport.”
Kaishvili has been training at Bayern Munich’s academy since 2017 and currently plays for their U-17 team.
