Bayern Munich Secures Its Star Players
Bayern Munich’s sporting management has been exceptionally productive in early 2025, addressing the potential departure of eight players. Four of the most crucial team members have already extended their contracts, with Joshua Kimmich being the latest to renew.
Seven Bayern players were set to become free agents in June: Alphonso Davies, Eric Dier, Sven Ulreich, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer. Additionally, Jamal Musiala, whose contract was due to expire in 2026, was attracting interest in the transfer market. By mid-March, the German club had successfully renewed four of its key players: Davies, Kimmich, Neuer, and Musiala.
Captain Manuel Neuer was the first to extend his contract until 2026. Surprisingly, Alphonso Davies, who was rumored to join Real Madrid, renewed until 2030. Jamal Musiala followed suit, committing to the club until 2030 and becoming Bayern’s franchise player. The most recent renewal came from Joshua Kimmich, who at 30 years old, extended his contract until 2029.
Uncertainty Surrounding Müller
Like Neuer, Müller is a veteran and an icon for both Bayern and the German national team. Despite his contract situation, the Bavarian office expects him to renew for one more season, potentially his last. According to SkySports, Müller has received a renewal offer from the club, but recent reports suggest he might be tempted by an MLS offer.
Eric Dier’s role in the team has diminished since Kompany’s arrival, and he is unlikely to renew. Sven Ulreich’s future at Bayern seems uncertain, as the club has invested in younger goalkeepers Jonas Urbig and Daniel Peretz.
Doubts About Sané
Leroy Sané’s future remains uncertain. Unlike his teammates who are regular starters, Sané has been losing prominence in the squad. His high salary makes the management hesitant about offering a renewal. However, according to Christoph Freund, Bayern’s current intention is to renew the forward’s contract.
The renewal operation at Bayern Munich has already secured the continuity of nearly half of the at-risk players. Except for Sané, the renewal process appears to be almost complete.
