Besiktas Eyes Pellegrini After Lazio Exclusion, Juventus Involvement Complicates Potential Move
Turkish Super Lig powerhouse Besiktas has reportedly set its sights on Luca Pellegrini, the Italian defender currently on loan at Lazio from Juventus. This interest comes in the wake of Pellegrini’s unexpected omission from Lazio’s Serie A and Europa League squads, despite his regular appearances for the team in the first half of the season.
The 25-year-old’s agent has dismissed speculation of disciplinary issues behind the exclusion, while Lazio has remained silent on the matter. This situation has left Pellegrini ineligible for both domestic and European competitions, potentially paving the way for a move before the Turkish transfer window closes.
Reports suggest that Besiktas is actively monitoring Pellegrini’s situation and could make a move in the coming days. However, the transfer negotiations are likely to be complex due to Pellegrini’s loan arrangement with Lazio, which includes a conditional obligation to buy from Juventus.
Any potential deal would require negotiations with both Juventus and Lazio, adding layers of complexity to the transfer. Earlier in January, Serie A clubs Udinese and Como had also expressed interest in the defender.
As the Turkish transfer window remains open, Besiktas could offer Pellegrini an escape route from his current predicament. However, the involvement of multiple parties in the potential transfer makes it a challenging proposition to complete within the remaining timeframe.
