Boban Reveals Capello’s Uncanny Prediction in Barcelona-Inter Clash
In a surprising turn of events, Zvonimir Boban disclosed that Fabio Capello accurately forecasted the final score of 3-3 in the Barcelona-Inter Milan match, even when Inter held a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half.
The thrilling Champions League encounter began with Inter Milan taking an early advantage through goals from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries. However, Barcelona managed to level the score before halftime with strikes from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.
Boban, speaking to Sky Sport Italia, expressed his amazement at the spectacle: “It was an extraordinary, spectacular game. When Inter was up 2-0, and considering Barcelona’s performance, Mr. Capello told me it would end 3-3. While predictions aren’t always accurate, he made this call when Inter was two goals ahead.”
The second half saw another goal from Dumfries for Inter, but an unfortunate own goal by Yann Sommer resulted in the final 3-3 scoreline, validating Capello’s prediction.
Both Boban and Capello, who shared a Champions League victory with AC Milan in 1993-94, were providing commentary for Sky Sport Italia during the match.
The return leg of this semifinal clash is scheduled for May 6 at San Siro, promising another exciting encounter between these two European giants.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi commented on the match and an injury concern: “We delivered a great performance against what I consider the world’s best team at the moment. Unfortunately, Lautaro Martinez felt a twinge, which is a risk when playing eight consecutive matches. I hope it’s not serious, but I have some doubts.”
This result sets the stage for an intriguing second leg, with both teams still very much in contention for a place in the final.
