Italian media reports suggest that Bologna is contemplating an early termination of Samuel Iling-Junior’s loan agreement with Aston Villa. The English winger’s return to Serie A has been less than impressive over the past few months.

Iling-Junior, along with Enzo Barrenechea, joined Aston Villa from Juventus during the summer transfer window, coinciding with Douglas Luiz’s move in the opposite direction. Both Iling-Junior and Barrenechea were promptly loaned out to other clubs.

Despite his background in Chelsea’s youth academy and experience with Juventus’s Next Gen team and first squad under Massimiliano Allegri, Italian sources indicate that Iling-Junior has struggled to make a significant impact at Bologna since his summer arrival.

Bologna negotiated a straight loan deal without a purchase option, allowing them to potentially end the agreement with Aston Villa prematurely, according to TuttoBolognaweb and Il Corriere dello Sport.

So far this season, Iling-Junior has made only five appearances in Serie A. His sole goal contribution came during a 2-2 draw against Como in mid-September.
