Remo Freuler, midfielder for Bologna, has emphasized the unique environment at the club as several of his teammates face transfer speculation this summer. Speaking at the team`s preseason camp, Freuler stressed the importance of focusing on Bologna rather than discussing individual players` futures.
When asked about how veteran players can help retain top talent, Freuler admitted uncertainty but highlighted the strong team dynamic: “They understand what kind of group we have here and what they would be leaving behind. Ultimately, it`s their decision. We try to provide our perspective and reasons to stay, but the final choice is theirs. The environment we have at Bologna is difficult to find elsewhere, but if they choose to leave, it means they`ve carefully considered their options.”
The Swiss international also expressed excitement about Bologna`s upcoming Europa League campaign, following their Coppa Italia success last season. “It`s a competition I`ve always enjoyed. It`s very entertaining and competitive. We`ll give it our all and aim to progress as far as possible,” Freuler stated.
Freuler, 33, was a key player for Bologna last season, making 49 appearances across all competitions, including seven in the Champions League. His comments come as teammate Dan Ndoye is linked with potential moves to Napoli or Nottingham Forest, while Sam Beukema has already departed for Napoli this summer.
