Bologna coach Italiano commented on his team’s victory over Verona in Serie A, which brought them closer to Juventus in the league table. He noted the importance of this win, especially after recent unsuccessful away matches.
Italiano emphasized that the team is performing well despite missing key players throughout the season. He mentioned that at the beginning of the season, they lacked Ferguson and Cambiaghi, and later lost Orsolini, Odgaard, and Freuler. Despite these absences, they managed to win a difficult game against Verona, who play with a tough low block defense.
Regarding a controversial penalty awarded to Verona, Italiano stated that Bologna also has complaints about refereeing in other situations. He acknowledged the presence of VAR but pointed out that discussions about similar episodes continue, just like before VAR was implemented.
Italiano praised player Odgaard for his progress and versatility. He mentioned that Odgaard is not yet at 100% fitness but was important to play even at 70%. After changing Odgaard’s role, he has flourished, proving to be a valuable player both in midfield and attack. Italiano expressed hope to have Odgaard back at his maximum potential soon.
