Borja Iglesias Visits Cillessen and Presents a Gift

Celta Vigo striker Borja Iglesias paid a visit to Jasper Cillessen at a hotel in Vigo on Tuesday. The Dutch goalkeeper remains in the Galician city after spending several days in the hospital due to a collision with Iglesias during the Celta – Las Palmas match.

Cillessen underwent successful surgery for a perforation in his small intestine sustained during the March 31st game. The Dutch keeper had a laparoscopic procedure and spent a week under observation in a Vigo hospital. Now discharged, Cillessen was visited by Iglesias before returning to Gran Canaria.

As a gesture of goodwill, Iglesias presented Cillessen with a black shirt bearing the message “Afouzeta Jasper” (Stay strong, Jasper), signed by the entire Celta squad.

Having received medical clearance, the Dutch goalkeeper is heading back to Gran Canaria to continue his recovery. “I’m feeling much better now. It hasn’t been an easy week, but I’m in much better shape. I’m happy to return to the island to continue my recovery. We’ll see how long it takes, as I’ll undergo more tests next week to assess my condition,” said Cillessen as he prepared to leave Vigo following Iglesias’ visit.
