Cagliari Accommodates Fiorentina with Training Ground Access as Serie A Match Rescheduled
In a show of sportsmanship, Cagliari has granted Fiorentina access to their training facilities today. This gesture comes in the wake of their Serie A match being rescheduled to Wednesday following the unfortunate passing of Pope Francis.
Italian media outlets, including RAI and Sport Mediaset, report that Cagliari has opened its training ground to Fiorentina, allowing their upcoming opponents to prepare for the rearranged fixture. The match was initially set for Monday but was postponed shortly before kickoff due to the Pope’s death.
Fiorentina had already begun their return journey to Florence when the game was called off on Monday. However, they managed to halt their travel plans when the Serie A league officially announced the new schedule a few hours later.
Unable to secure a suitable training venue, Fiorentina found themselves in a predicament. Cagliari stepped in, offering their facilities and training pitch for Tuesday morning. As a result, the Rossoblu team will conduct their own training session in the afternoon.
The rescheduling has affected other Serie A matches as well. Three games originally slated for Monday have been moved to tomorrow: Torino vs Udinese, Parma vs Juventus, and Genoa vs Lazio. All these matches are set to kick off at 18:00 CET.
