Cassano: De Ketelaere has Ballon d’Or potential, only Yamal better than him
Charles De Ketelaere is making waves at Atalanta, leading the team to unprecedented heights. The Belgian player has been impressing even the harshest critics, including Antonio Cassano. Speaking on “Viva el Futbol,” the former player described De Ketelaere as one of the world’s best in his position, even suggesting he could win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years.
Cassano stated, “De Ketelaere is currently the strongest player in Serie A, the one who excites me the most. He’s fantastic. His ball control is unparalleled in the league, he has a change of pace, wins headers, and shows personality. He’s making an impression not just in Italy but in Europe as well. He might not play for Liverpool with Salah or Barcelona with Yamal, but he could certainly play for Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.”
Regarding De Ketelaere’s time at Milan, Cassano commented, “I have to blame Pioli a bit for De Ketelaere’s struggles. He was patient with Leao but less so with the Belgian. When he controls the ball, he reminds me of Kaka. I’ve only seen that oriented touch from him.”
Looking to the future, Cassano added, “I think he’s destined to join top teams and compete for the Ballon d’Or. Apart from Salah, in his position today, only Yamal is ahead of De Ketelaere in my opinion.”
