Chelsea Considering £39m Bid for Star Striker
Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing a high-profile striker and may be preparing a £39 million offer, according to recent reports.
Blues Seeking Attacking Reinforcements
Chelsea’s pursuit of Champions League football took a hit on Sunday after a surprising 2-2 draw at home against struggling Ipswich Town. The result highlighted ongoing issues with the team’s attacking output.
Striker Nicolas Jackson once again failed to find the net, missing a big chance before being substituted late on. His replacement Christopher Nkunku had little time to make an impact, leaving Chelsea’s forward line looking blunt.
With both Jackson and Nkunku struggling for consistent form, it appears increasingly likely that manager Enzo Maresca will prioritize bringing in a new striker this summer. Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap has emerged as a potential target.
However, Chelsea may also be looking abroad for reinforcements. According to reports, the club is very interested in Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who could be available this summer.
Juventus may be open to selling Vlahovic due to his high wages. The Serie A club is reportedly seeking €50-55 million (£43-48m) for the Serbian international. Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United are said to be willing to offer around €45 million (£39m).
Is Vlahovic the Answer?
The 25-year-old Vlahovic has an impressive record in Italy, with 86 goals in 198 Serie A appearances across spells at Fiorentina and Juventus. He’s also netted 14 times in 34 games for Serbia.
Once hailed as a “real superstar” by Italian media during his Fiorentina days, Vlahovic has contributed 19 goals across all competitions this season for Juventus.
However, there are concerns about his recent form. Vlahovic has underperformed his expected goals (xG) stats significantly this season, averaging just 0.31 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes compared to an xG of 0.43.
Given these issues, Chelsea may want to consider other in-form options like Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres before committing to a move for Vlahovic.
