Chelsea Eager to Secure Creative Midfield Talent, £26M Offer in the Works
Chelsea are intensifying their pursuit of a creative midfield player and are preparing a £26 million bid to sign Como’s Nico Paz, according to recent reports. The Blues are determined to win the race for the 20-year-old Argentine talent, who has attracted interest from several top European clubs.
While Chelsea have been effective at creating chances this season, ranking joint-second in the Premier League for big chances created, manager Enzo Maresca is keen to add more playmaking ability to the squad. Paz has emerged as a prime target alongside Lyon’s Rayan Cherki.
Paz has impressed in Serie A this season, contributing 6 goals and 7 assists in 30 appearances for Como. His performances earned him a call-up to the Argentina national team, where he provided an assist on his debut against Bolivia in October.
However, Chelsea face stiff competition for Paz’s signature. Real Madrid, his former club, retain a buy-back option for under £9 million, which could complicate any potential deal. Other top European sides are also monitoring the situation.
Described as a “decisive creator”, Paz has formed an excellent partnership with Como striker Assane Diao. His creativity and goal contributions have made him one of Serie A’s standout young players this season.
Chelsea’s transfer strategy focuses on acquiring young talent with high potential, making Paz an ideal target. However, Real Madrid’s cheap buy-back clause poses a significant obstacle to any deal. The Blues will need to act decisively if they hope to secure the promising midfielder’s services for next season.
