Chelsea eyeing £39m “entertainer” as potential attacking boost

Chelsea’s 2024/25 season has been a mixed bag so far. The Blues are battling for a top five finish while still competing in the UEFA Conference League. In the Premier League, they have struggled to convert chances, underperforming their expected goals by nearly 9 goals.

To address their attacking woes, Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Brighton forward Georginio Rutter this summer. The 22-year-old Frenchman has impressed in his debut season for the Seagulls, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists across all competitions.

Described as an “entertainer”, Rutter possesses the flair and dribbling ability that could inject some excitement into Chelsea’s attack. He averages 1.47 successful take-ons per game, putting him in the top 9% of forwards in Europe’s top leagues.

With his skillset reminiscent of former Chelsea star Eden Hazard, Rutter could potentially become a fan favorite at Stamford Bridge. At just 22, he has plenty of room to develop further and become a key player for the Blues.

While no transfer fee has been mentioned, Football Transfers values Rutter at around £39 million. If Chelsea can secure his signature, they may have found an attacking spark to help solve their goal-scoring issues next season.
