Chelsea in Talks for £50m Striker to Rival Jackson
Chelsea are exceeding expectations in their first season under Enzo Maresca. Despite the manager downplaying title talk, the Blues sit second in the Premier League, just two points behind Liverpool and four ahead of Arsenal.
After spending heavily in recent transfer windows, Chelsea now appear to be targeting a top-class striker to complete their dynamic squad. According to reports, the club has made contact with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko ahead of a potential move in 2025.
The 21-year-old Slovenian forward was linked with several English clubs last summer but opted to continue his development in Germany. However, with Leipzig already eliminated from the Champions League, Sesko may now be looking for a bigger stage to showcase his talents.
Standing at 6’4″, Sesko possesses an impressive combination of physicality, aerial ability and technical skill that has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland. He has consistently found the net across four seasons of top-flight football, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances for Leipzig this term.
While Nicolas Jackson has shown improvement for Chelsea this season, Sesko would provide serious competition and a different option up front. His aerial prowess in particular could add a new dimension to the Blues’ attack.
A move for Sesko would likely spell trouble for young striker Marc Guiu, who recently scored a hat-trick in the Europa Conference League. However, Chelsea appear focused on adding elite talent as they push to re-establish themselves as Premier League title contenders.
With a reported price tag of around £50 million, Sesko would not come cheap. But at just 21 years old, he has the potential to lead Chelsea’s line for years to come if he can fulfill his immense promise in the Premier League.
