Mikel stated: “We almost finalized the deal for Victor Osimhen last summer. Both the club and player were keen. I know exactly where negotiations stopped. If we revisit it this summer, it should be straightforward to complete. He’s very eager to join.”

After the Chelsea move fell through, the Nigerian international joined Galatasaray on loan and has been impressive throughout the season. The 26-year-old is currently in excellent form, scoring six goals in his last three Turkish Süper Lig matches and contributing seven goals in seven Europa League games.

Football journalist Matt Barlow has described Osimhen as “world-class,” suggesting he could be a significant upgrade over the criticized Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea.

With a release clause of £62m in his Napoli contract, Osimhen presents an affordable opportunity for Chelsea to acquire a top-tier striker. The club would be wise to pursue this deal, given the player’s quality and reasonable price tag.
