Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly is reportedly personally planning to make an offer for a midfielder who is in good form. This signing is for Enzo Maresca this summer, as BlueCo’s transfer plans begin to materialize for the 2025/2026 season.
BlueCo to Invest in New Chelsea Midfield Signing This Summer
Maresca has faced shortages in midfield at times this season, particularly with Roméo Lavia suffering from various injuries. This resulted in the Belgian making only 10 Premier League appearances for Chelsea.
Chelsea signed Mathis Amougou from Saint-Étienne in January on a temporary deal to provide Maresca with another midfield option. However, the 19-year-old is not expected to stay at Stamford Bridge long-term, as the club plans to loan him to Strasbourg later this year.
Chelsea’s next five Premier League fixtures | Date |
---|---|
Arsenal (away) | March 16th |
Tottenham (home) | April 2nd |
Brentford (away) | April 5th |
Ipswich Town (home) | April 12th |
Fulham (away) | April 19th |
With Amougou likely to return to Ligue 1 on loan next season, Chelsea are planning to invest in a first-team midfielder. Barcelona’s Gavi is reportedly among their main targets for this position.
Chelsea are also still interested in Manchester United’s young talent Kobbie Mainoo, after considering a move in January. Mainoo’s contract with United runs until 2027, and his current salary is significantly lower than the club’s top earners.

As there has been no agreement on a new contract for Mainoo at Old Trafford, BlueCo sees an opportunity to bring the young star to London. Chelsea contacted Mainoo’s representatives in winter to express their interest and apparently still have him on their list of potential signings.
However, signing Mainoo could be difficult due to his importance to Manchester United, and they are unlikely to let him leave for a low price.
As a result, Chelsea are exploring alternative options. Alan Nixon from The Sun reports that Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham is attracting attention at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground.
Todd Boehly Preparing Chelsea Bid for Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland
According to Nixon, Chelsea chief Boehly is personally ‘preparing a bid’ to sign Bellingham from Sunderland.

However, Chelsea could face strong competition from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, both of whom are also interested in Jude Bellingham’s younger brother.
Chelsea are determined to win the race for Jobe Bellingham and are ready to outbid any offers for the 19-year-old. The club is also looking to sign more UK-based players for Maresca, and Bellingham fits this profile.
Sunderland might consider selling their key midfielder, who has scored four goals and provided three assists in 32 Championship starts this season, as they aim for promotion. It is believed Sunderland value Bellingham at around £40 million.
Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has described Bellingham as a ‘powerful’ player, and clubs are seriously considering his performances this season.
