Chelsea plan £59m offer for “one of Europe’s best strikers”
Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a £59 million bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy this summer as they aim to strengthen their struggling attack.
The Blues have struggled for consistency this season under manager Enzo Maresca, with just 5 wins from their last 16 matches in all competitions. Star forward Cole Palmer is currently enduring a goal drought, while Nicolas Jackson has failed to live up to expectations since his £52 million move last year.
Guirassy has been in prolific form for Dortmund this season, scoring 28 goals across all competitions. The 29-year-old Guinean international previously impressed at Stuttgart, netting 30 goals in 30 games last term.
German legend Lothar Matthaus has described Guirassy as “one of the best strikers in Europe” based on his performances. The powerful forward ranks in the top 10% of strikers in Europe’s top 5 leagues for goals scored and pass completion over the past year.
With Jackson struggling for consistency and missing numerous chances, Guirassy’s clinical finishing could provide a significant upgrade to Chelsea’s attack. The Dortmund striker has missed just 38 big chances over the past two Bundesliga seasons while scoring 43 goals.
At £59 million, Guirassy would represent a major investment for Chelsea. However, his goalscoring record and all-round play suggest he could be the elite striker the Blues need to challenge for titles next season. His arrival may also help ease the burden on the still-developing Jackson.
While Juventus and Napoli are also monitoring Guirassy, Chelsea’s financial muscle puts them in pole position to land one of Europe’s most in-form strikers this summer. After a disappointing campaign, signing a proven goalscorer like Guirassy could be exactly what Chelsea need to return to the top.
