Chelsea Pursuing £70m Striker Also Linked to Arsenal

Chelsea are reportedly in continuous contact with the representatives of RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, as they explore the possibility of a late January move. This comes despite indications that the highly-rated striker is keen on joining Arsenal.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have been in frequent communication with Sesko’s agents and recently hosted them at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are said to be contemplating submitting a bid for the Slovenian international before the transfer window closes, as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Sesko, who has been dubbed a “special player” at Leipzig, is believed to have a £70 million price tag. The 20-year-old has impressed in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 8 goals and providing 2 assists in 18 appearances.

However, any potential deal faces significant obstacles. Leipzig manager Marco Rose has expressed his intention to retain Sesko until at least the summer. Additionally, the striker still has four and a half years remaining on his current contract, which pays him £92,000 per week.

While Chelsea are showing strong interest, previous reports have suggested that Sesko has identified Arsenal as his preferred destination for a future move. This presents a challenging situation for the Blues as they attempt to persuade the young forward to choose Stamford Bridge over their London rivals.
