Chelsea Pursuing £84m “Monster” Striker in Late Transfer Window Move
With the January transfer window nearing its close, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is reportedly targeting a late move for Porto striker Samu Omorodion. The 20-year-old Spanish forward has been in stellar form this season, scoring 18 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Omorodion was previously linked with Chelsea last summer in a potential swap deal involving Conor Gallagher, but ultimately joined Porto instead. Now the Blues are revisiting their interest in the prolific young striker as they look to bolster their attacking options.
According to reports, Omorodion has a €100m (£84m) release clause in his Porto contract. However, it’s believed Chelsea could potentially negotiate a lower fee if they move quickly before the transfer deadline.
The Spanish striker has significantly outperformed other Chelsea targets like Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel this season. Omorodion is averaging more goals, assists, shots on target and aerial duels won than Tel, highlighting his all-around ability as a focal point in attack.
Dubbed a “monster” talent by scouts, Omorodion could provide the clinical goalscoring presence Chelsea have lacked up front this season. At just 20 years old, he also fits the club’s strategy of investing in young talent with high potential.
With time running out in the transfer window, Chelsea will need to act fast if they hope to secure a deal for the in-demand Porto striker. Omorodion represents an exciting option as Maresca looks to boost his side’s attacking firepower for the second half of the season.
