Chelsea Reaches Out About Signing £63m Forward Drawing Osimhen Comparisons

Chelsea has initiated contact regarding the potential acquisition of a highly-regarded striker who has drawn comparisons to Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen. This development comes after Chelsea’s unsuccessful late summer attempt to sign the Nigerian forward.

During the final stages of the summer transfer window, Chelsea held discussions about bringing in Osimhen from Napoli, but the deal failed to materialize. The club is now exploring other options, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko emerging as a potential target.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Chelsea has made initial contact about signing Sesko from Leipzig. The club is reportedly in talks with agents and intermediaries of several striker targets they believe could bolster their attacking options.

Sesko’s current contract with Leipzig is said to include a release clause of approximately £63 million. The 21-year-old Slovenian international has a gentleman’s agreement allowing him to leave the club in either 2025 or 2026.

Christopher Vivell, former interim recruitment director at Manchester United and ex-Leipzig executive, has praised Sesko’s potential: “Benjamin Šeško is among the top young talents in football with enormous potential. He’s extremely quick, strong in the air, and technically proficient despite his 1.95m height. His abilities make him a special player.”

Interestingly, Football Transfers has drawn comparisons between Sesko and Osimhen, suggesting similarities in their playing styles.

While Chelsea currently boasts the Premier League’s top-scoring attack, with Nicolas Jackson leading the line and both Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer reaching double figures across all competitions, the club appears to be planning for the future by exploring options like Sesko to further strengthen their striking options.
