Chelsea is reportedly planning to make a £50 million offer for a highly-rated midfielder, who has emerged as a primary target for the club.
Blues Aim for Multiple Signings
If Chelsea secures Champions League qualification, Enzo Maresca’s first season at Stamford Bridge will be considered successful. There’s also still a chance to win the Conference League title.
The club’s ownership group, Blueco, has ambitious goals for the future. To bridge the gap with top teams like Liverpool and Arsenal, they are expected to make several new signings this summer, targeting various positions.
Maresca is believed to be pushing for Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen, potentially as a replacement for Robert Sanchez. Additionally, Chelsea is keen to sign a new striker.
Chelsea has a strong interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and is also reportedly preparing a £37 million bid for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, who has been in excellent goal-scoring form this season.
In addition to a goalkeeper and a striker, Chelsea is also targeting a new midfielder. Reports from Spain indicate they are expected to bid €60 million (£50 million) for Barcelona’s Gavi.
Gavi’s future at Barcelona is uncertain due to limited playing time under manager Hansi Flick, which could facilitate a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The 20-year-old is considered a key target because of his youth, aligning with Blueco’s strategy of signing talented young players. However, Paris Saint-Germain is also showing strong interest, creating competition for his signature.
“Spectacular” Gavi Could Be an Excellent Addition
Despite his young age, the Spanish international has already accumulated significant experience at the highest level, making 135 appearances for Barcelona. He also boasts impressive defensive statistics compared to other players in his position over the past year.

Gavi is also known for his composure on the ball, ranking in the 95th percentile for pass completion rate. Former Barcelona coach Xavi previously praised him as ‘spectacular,’ and talent scout Jacek Kulig has also spoken highly of him.
One area where the central midfielder could improve is his attacking output, as he has never scored more than two league goals in a season for Barcelona.
However, Gavi is still young and has plenty of potential for further development. Chelsea’s reported bid is promising news for fans.
