Chelsea’s Petrovic Considers Extended Stay at Strasbourg
Djordje Petrovic, the 25-year-old goalkeeper on loan from Chelsea to RC Strasbourg Alsace, has been performing exceptionally well this season. Initially expected to return to his parent club, Petrovic has now expressed openness to remaining with the French side.
Earlier reports suggested Petrovic would compete for Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper position upon his return. However, the Serbian international has now indicated he may prefer to stay in France, especially if Strasbourg secures a Champions League spot.
“My focus is on finishing the season strongly. We’ll evaluate options this summer, but staying here could be very appealing if Strasbourg qualifies for the Champions League,” Petrovic stated during a recent press conference.
Strasbourg currently sits in seventh place, just four points behind the Champions League qualification spots. Petrovic also commented on his personal growth, saying, “I’ve always been confident in my ability to improve. My progress at Strasbourg has exceeded expectations, but I believe there’s still room for further development before the season ends.”
This development adds an interesting twist to Chelsea’s goalkeeper situation, which has been a point of concern this season. The club will need to carefully consider their options as they plan for the upcoming season.
