Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu expressed satisfaction with his team`s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, while acknowledging areas for improvement. The win was crucial for Inter following two consecutive Serie A losses.
Inter took an early lead through Federico Dimarco and later doubled their advantage with a deflected Carlos Augusto shot. However, Sassuolo`s late goal by Walid Cheddira created a tense finish to the match.
Chivu praised the team`s overall performance, stating: “We displayed character, determination, and the right attitude. There was quality in our play as well. We created opportunities to secure the win earlier, but Sassuolo`s goalkeeper made several impressive saves.”

Chivu had high praise for 20-year-old Francesco Pio Esposito, who made his second consecutive start. “Despite his youth, he handles pressure well and can compete physically on the pitch. He works hard for the team, and I`m very pleased with his progress,” Chivu remarked.
The coach also discussed the rotation of goalkeepers, giving Josep Martinez his season debut. “It`s important to give our backup goalkeeper minutes on the field to ensure he`s fully integrated. Yann Sommer remains our first choice, but Pep will continue to get opportunities to play.”
