Inter Milan`s new head coach Cristian Chivu praised his team`s maturity and performance following their impressive 5-0 victory over Torino in the Serie A opener. The win marked Inter`s strongest start to a season since 1961 when they defeated Atalanta 6-0.
Chivu expressed his satisfaction with the team`s attitude and preparation, stating, “The players have embraced their responsibilities from day one of training. Their excellent form today is a result of their hard work, which is particularly noteworthy given the limited pre-season preparation time.”
The coach emphasized the importance of both physical fitness and mental strength, noting that the right mindset can provide a crucial edge in performance. He also highlighted the effectiveness of the team`s high-pressure tactics, while acknowledging the risks involved when defenders lack speed.
Regarding his return to San Siro as Inter`s coach, Chivu remarked, “It`s a special feeling to be back at this stadium as the coach of a club where I contributed to important chapters in its history. However, I`m focused on the present and the significant responsibility that comes with this role.”
When questioned about potential new signings, including rumors about Ademola Lookman, Chivu deflected, preferring to concentrate on the match at hand. He stated, “There are still a few days left in the transfer window, so we`ll have time to discuss that later.”
The convincing win, featuring goals from Marcus Thuram, Alessandro Bastoni, Lautaro Martinez, and debutant Ange-Yoan Bonny, sets a positive tone for Inter Milan`s season under Chivu`s leadership.
