Chivu Unfazed by Inter Critics as Team Prepares for Sassuolo

Inter head coach Cristian Chivu is not letting criticism affect him as he prepares his team to face Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday evening. After a disappointing start to the league campaign with just 3 points from 3 matches, Chivu remains focused on the task at hand.

“I have many other things to think about,” Chivu stated at his pre-match press conference. “Criticism is part of the game. I`m concentrating on helping the players. This team deserves support – they`re a strong group that had a quality season last year despite some recent misfortune.”

Regarding injuries, Chivu provided an update on striker Lautaro Martinez, who has recovered from back issues and will be available for selection against Sassuolo. The coach also hinted that backup goalkeeper Josep Martinez may get an opportunity to start over Yann Sommer.

“Lautaro trained with us today and is available. He always gives his best,” Chivu noted. “A Martinez will definitely play,” he added jokingly, referring to either Lautaro or Josep.

On opponents Sassuolo, Chivu said: “They are a well-prepared, serious team that can cause us problems. We need to be ready in every aspect.”

The coach also addressed questions about when summer signings Luis Henrique and Andy Diouf may feature more prominently: “We will have opportunities to see them play. The recent matches haven`t allowed for many changes, but they are showing they deserve chances.”

As Inter look to get their Serie A campaign back on track, Chivu remains focused on preparing his squad rather than outside noise. A positive result against Sassuolo could help silence the critics and build momentum after their midweek Champions League victory.
