In AC Milan`s 3-1 triumph over Bologna on Friday, Christian Pulisic made a significant impact and celebrated his goal with a touching tribute to his mother. The American star pointed to the back of his jersey, which bore his mother`s maiden name instead of his own.
As part of a special initiative, all Milan players took to the field wearing jerseys featuring their mothers` maiden names. Pulisic, who netted his 17th goal of the season across all competitions, used this opportunity to honor his mother in a heartfelt gesture.
The USMNT player has been in exceptional form, contributing 11 goals and 11 assists in 32 Serie A appearances this season. His outstanding performance has made him AC Milan`s top scorer in the 2024-25 campaign.
Reports suggest that Pulisic is close to signing a contract extension with the Italian giants, which would see his annual salary increase from €4 million to €5 million. The new agreement is expected to extend his stay at the club until 2029, beyond his current contract that expires in 2027.
Pulisic`s Post-Match Comments
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the match, Pulisic expressed his satisfaction with the team`s recent performances: “We`ve found some consistency now, which is crucial for us. We`re aware of our great team spirit, and we`re currently playing really well.”
He added, “If we manage to win two trophies in one season, it would be an extraordinary achievement. We aim to maintain this momentum. While we`re not content with our current position in Serie A, we`re performing well at the moment, and it`s important that we finish the season strongly.”
Milan is set to face Bologna again in the Coppa Italia Final on Wednesday. The Rossoneri have already clinched the Supercoppa Italiana this season but currently occupy 8th place in the Serie A standings, outside the European qualification spots.
