Antonio Conte and Napoli officials have moved up their planned meeting to today in order to iron out the final details of an agreement for Conte to remain as head coach for the 2025-26 season.
The situation has been uncertain since Napoli clinched the Serie A title last week, narrowly edging out Inter Milan. Initially, Conte seemed ready to depart, believing he had taken the team as far as possible given the available resources.
However, after preliminary talks on Tuesday, Conte agreed to reconsider his position. It now appears he has had a change of heart regarding his future with the club.
Conte Poised to Commit to Napoli
The meeting, originally scheduled for Friday, was moved up to this evening. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis, sporting director Giovanni Manna, and CEO Andrea Chiavelli are all expected to attend.
Multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia, confirm the talks are taking place tonight and could be the final step before De Laurentiis announces Conte`s decision to stay on as manager.
De Laurentiis is not only promising increased transfer market spending, but also improvements to the training facilities that Conte had cited as a factor in the team`s injury problems this season.
Another indication that an agreement is imminent is the news that Max Allegri, who had been lined up as a potential replacement for Conte at Napoli, has today signed on to become AC Milan`s new head coach.
