Conte: ‘Most Challenging Season of My Career as Napoli Nears Serie A Title’

Antonio Conte, Napoli`s head coach, admits to feeling drained as his team approaches the final match of the season with the Serie A championship within reach. He describes this campaign as the most demanding of his professional life.

The match at Stadio Tardini was a rollercoaster for Napoli, influenced by the thrilling 2-2 draw between Inter and Lazio at San Siro. Napoli faced some misfortune, hitting the woodwork twice and having a late penalty decision overturned after VAR review.

Conte Senses Impending Victory

“We`re on the cusp of winning the Scudetto, but there`s still one final step to take. We`ll do it at home, backed by our supporters,” Conte told reporters. “This has been an incredibly challenging season. We`ve achieved our goal of challenging for the top spot until the end, despite numerous obstacles.”

Conte emphasized the unique nature of winning with Napoli compared to clubs more accustomed to success. He praised his team`s adaptability, having used various formations throughout the season due to injuries and player unavailability.

Conte`s Most Grueling Title Chase

“This is undoubtedly the most difficult season of my career,” Conte stated. “We`ve had to make numerous adjustments in the latter half of the season, altering our tactics and formation. The year-long break allowed me to study different approaches, which proved beneficial given our thin squad.”

Napoli needs just one more victory to secure the title, regardless of Inter`s result. Conte reflected on the emotional toll of the season: “Winning would compensate for all the effort I`ve put in this year. I`ve given everything, pushing beyond my limits. I`m exhausted, barely making it to the season`s end.”

Conte will miss the final match due to a touchline ban but expressed confidence in his staff and players, as well as the support from the Stadio Maradona crowd. He concluded by noting his frustration with time-wasting tactics, a stark contrast to his experience in English football.
