Napoli manager Antonio Conte addressed the media ahead of their Serie A clash with Cagliari, touching on various topics including the recent Champions League draw and the competitive nature of the Italian league.
Regarding the Champions League, Conte expressed enthusiasm about participating in Europe`s premier club competition. He emphasized Napoli`s humble approach, stating, “We aim to learn from the tournament`s masters and previous winners, like diligent students. Perhaps one day we`ll surpass our teachers, but for now, our focus is on the upcoming league match against Cagliari.”
Conte stressed the importance of maintaining the same intensity and focus that led to their Scudetto victory last season. He cautioned against complacency, saying, “If we assume victory simply because we`re the champions, we`ll make a grave error. We must match Cagliari`s intensity to deliver a strong performance.”

Reflecting on Napoli`s season opener against Sassuolo, Conte praised Scott McTominay`s performance: “Scott has continued his excellent form with a great display and a goal. Kevin De Bruyne also had an impressive debut. The team performed well, but we must maintain this trajectory and keep improving to achieve success.”
When asked about the goalkeeper situation, Conte remained coy, stating that the decision would be revealed with the lineup announcement. He expressed satisfaction with the club`s improved goalkeeper options compared to last season.
