Conte reflects on Kvaratskhelia situation at Napoli
Antonio Conte has addressed the recent controversy surrounding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s potential departure from Napoli. The Italian coach emphasized that his disappointment was directed at himself, not the player or the club.
Conte explained, “I want to clarify my earlier statements. My disappointment stems from my inability to change the situation over the past six months. I take full responsibility for my actions and do not blame others.”
The coach revealed that when he joined Napoli in the summer of 2024, Kvaratskhelia had already expressed a desire to leave. Conte had hoped to persuade the Georgian winger to stay, but after half a year, the player’s stance remained unchanged.
“Perhaps I was overconfident in thinking I could have a stronger impact,” Conte admitted. “It’s unfortunate, as Khvicha is an exceptional player. However, we must face reality. As of now, he remains a Napoli player, and nothing is certain regarding his future.”
Despite the ongoing transfer speculation, Conte praised his squad’s focus and professionalism. “I want to commend the team for maintaining their concentration amid these rumors. We have an excellent group of players, and I never doubted their commitment.”
As Napoli continues to lead the Serie A table, the club’s management will need to make crucial decisions regarding Kvaratskhelia’s future in the coming months.
