Copa del Rey Round of 16 Draw: What You Need to Know
The Round of 16 for the 2025 Copa del Rey is taking shape. With all Round of 32 matches completed, most of the qualified teams are now known. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming stage of Spain’s premier cup competition:
Draw Date and Location
The Round of 16 draw will take place on Wednesday, January 8th at 1:00 PM local time. It will be held at the Luis Aragonés Hall in Las Rozas Football City.
Participating Teams
16 teams will compete in this round, having advanced from the Round of 32. The breakdown of teams by division is as follows:
- 12 teams from La Liga (First Division)
- 2 teams from Segunda División (Second Division)
- 1 team from Primera RFEF (Third Division)
- 1 team from Segunda RFEF (Fourth Division)
Draw Format
The draw will follow these rules:
- The four non-La Liga teams will be paired with La Liga teams
- La Liga teams drawn against lower division opponents will play away
- Remaining La Liga teams will be drawn against each other
- The first team drawn in each pairing will host the match
Match Dates
Round of 16 matches will be played on January 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2025. All ties are single-leg elimination games.
