In a recent interview, Corentin Tolisso (30) reflected on his impressive return to form with Lyon this season. His performances have been so strong that he’s now considered one of the top players in the French league by a leading French sports publication.
After rejoining his childhood club, Tolisso initially struggled to regain the high level of play he showed before moving to Bayern Munich and becoming a key player for France. Injuries often sidelined him, making it difficult to build consistent momentum.
This season, with better fitness, the Lyon vice-captain has become crucial to the team’s success in both the Europa League and Ligue 1. However, Tolisso admitted it wasn’t always easy upon his return to Lyon. He explained, “When I came back to Lyon, I felt a bit lost. I was back, but I was questioning what my next goal was, what motivated me to perform well. For a while, I struggled to find those answers.”
Before the current season, during Lyon’s preseason camp in Austria, Tolisso had a breakthrough moment. “I remember being in my room during the training camp in Austria and asking myself many questions about what I truly wanted. I realized I needed to do everything possible to achieve my goals, and that’s exactly what I decided to do.”
