Cremonese Close to Signing Sanabria from Torino

Torino has given the green light for Antonio Sanabria to undergo a medical examination prior to his transfer to Cremonese. The deal is expected to be worth €2.5 million, with additional performance-based bonuses.

The Paraguayan forward has found himself on the fringes of Torino`s plans following the arrival of new coach Marco Baroni and the signing of striker Giovanni Simeone. Despite this, Sanabria was keen to continue his career in Serie A, making newly-promoted Cremonese an attractive option.

At 29 years old, Sanabria`s contract with Torino was nearing its end, making this Torino`s final opportunity to secure a transfer fee before he became a free agent. The striker initially joined Torino from Real Betis in January 2021 for €6.5 million, with potential add-ons of up to €3 million.

While Sanabria enjoyed a successful 2022-23 season, scoring 12 goals in 33 Serie A appearances, he struggled to maintain that form in subsequent campaigns. His goal tally dropped to five in the following season and further declined to just two goals and one assist in his most recent term.

This move represents a fresh start for Sanabria and an opportunity for Cremonese to bolster their attacking options as they aim to establish themselves in Italy`s top flight.
