Cristian Chivu Named New Parma Head Coach
Parma Calcio has officially announced the appointment of Cristian Chivu as the new head coach of their first team. The former Romanian defender, who played for Inter Milan, Roma, and Ajax, replaces Fabio Pecchia, who was dismissed following a recent 1-0 home defeat against Roma.
Newly promoted to Serie A, Parma currently finds themselves in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with 20 points from 25 matches. The team has scored 30 goals while conceding 45. Their next fixture is a home game against Bologna on Saturday afternoon.
Chivu began his coaching career at Inter Milan, where he ended his playing days. He worked in the club’s youth sector from 2018 to 2024, leading the Primavera team for the last three seasons. There were discussions about him potentially taking charge of Inter’s second team, which is expected to compete in Serie C next season.
The official statement from Parma Calcio welcomed Cristian Chivu as the new head coach of the men’s first team. Chivu will be joined by his staff, including Antonio Gagliardi (assistant coach), Angelo Palombo (technical collaborator), and Nicola Pavarini (goalkeeping coach). The new coaching team will lead their first training session this afternoon at the Mutti Training Center in Collecchio.
Parma extends a warm welcome to Cristian and his staff, wishing them success in their new roles with the club.
