Cristiano Ronaldo Claims Vinicius Jr Should Have Won the Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned Portuguese striker currently playing for Al-Nassr, has expressed his belief that Real Madrid’s forward Vinicius Jr should have been awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2024.

“I was taken aback,” Ronaldo stated. “In my opinion, Vinicius deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. He clinched the Champions League title and had a substantial influence on the game. I’m disappointed for Vinicius; he truly earned it. I’ve experienced similar feelings twice before, and it leaves you feeling powerless. However, I eventually came to understand the situation. Once you grasp the reality, you realize it’s futile to engage in a battle you can’t win.”

Vinicius Jr secured the second position in the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting, narrowly missing out on the award to Rodri, the midfielder from Manchester City and the Spanish national team.

Throughout his illustrious career, Ronaldo has claimed the Ballon d’Or five times – in 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. The only player to surpass Ronaldo’s achievement is Lionel Messi, who has won the coveted prize on eight occasions.
